Liechtenstein–Switzerland relations from a philatelic perspective
The Customs Treaty of 1923 is without a doubt the most important agreement between Liechtenstein and Switzerland. However, the Postal Treaty, concluded in 1920 and dissolved by mutual agreement in 1999, represents an important early milestone in relations between the two countries. It resulted in Liechtenstein switching from the Austrian Postal Service to the Swiss Postal Service. In 1921 Liechtenstein issued its first stamps denominated in Swiss francs.
The exhibition at the Liechtenstein PostalMuseum, which is taking place to mark the 100th anniversary of the Customs Treaty, showcases the close relations between Liechtenstein and Switzerland with a display of original designs, stamps and other items of philatelic interest.
