UNTO THE END OF THE WORLD. The Prottens – A Global Family in the 18th Century

1746, Herrnhag in Hesse, Europe: A dark-skinned man, son of a white European and an African princess, born in Accra, Africa, marries a dark-skinned woman from the Caribbean, America. What hardly causes astonishment today was completely unusual in the middle of the 18th century, indeed hardly conceivable or imaginable. Christian (1715-1769) and Rebecca Protten (1719-1778) crossed borders - both geographically and socially.
