Discover the Colors of Your World – Pictures from Prison

Each visitor who contemplates the works and enters into a dialogue with them will discover their own personal interpretations of the colors, shapes, and motifs on display – optimistic images drawing on childhood memories; bright, colorful pictures from better times that defy the greyness and darkness of prison life; and pieces recalling the «darkest days» of the past which are nevertheless not without hope, even under the conditions of incarceration. 

We find tragic moments of loneliness and guilt, terrifying dream worlds, but also scenes of successful integration, unbroken hope for life, and the much-longed-for prospect of a new start in dignity and dignified circumstances. It is not the moral quality of the artist, not the physical restrictions within which they live, but instead their powers of creativity and expression as a symbol of their hope that define the quality of art.
